XLR-11 from Research Chemical To Controlled Substance

The research chemical XLR-11 was readily available from China in 2012. This white powdery chemical was imported and mixed with Acetone and sprayed on plant/botanical materials. The plant materials were then packaged into small packages with bright colors and cartoon characters. Once packaged, they were distributed all over the United States to smoke shops, convenience stores and gas stations. These packages were marketed as "Legal Weed" because they looked like marijuana and were being promoted as legal. Other descriptive names used are K2 and Spice, with package names such as Avalanche, Blaze, Red X Dawn, Bliss, Black Mamba, Bombay Blue, Fake Weed, Genie, Spice, Zoh. Bazzaro, among many others. On August 9, 2012, Victor Woolson and a friend purchased a package of Avalanche from a local store, smoked it and went into the water to swim. Victor didn't get very far when he started showing signs of a struggle. A passerby called 911 and the Fire Department pulled the lifeless body of Victor from the water, keeping him alive and transporting him to the Hospital. Victor's body temperature was way, way too hot and couldn't be easily regulated. The Emergency Team worked on Victor for a long time, trying to save his life. There was no reaction in his eyes, as I looked at him, and I was told that meant no brain activity. He was in the Intensive Care Unit, hooked up to machines to keep him alive, for several hours before his body gave up. - The results from the hospital showed that the only thing in his system was XLR-11. There was not even water in his lungs, he didn't drown. The Death Certificate indicates Drowning. No one knew what else to put down. Synthetic Drugs were not something anyone knew anything about. - ... stay tuned for the next installment of this topic.
