InterFace Performance Materials Supports VOW Foundation’s SAFE Fair Oswego, NY – InterFace Performance Materials, located on Route 481 in Fulton, is a new Gold Sponsor for this year’s Substance Awareness Family Education Fair to be held on Sunday, April 30th at the Oswego Elks Lodge at 132 West Fifth Street in Oswego. “Interface Performance Materials fully supports VOW in their war against synthetic drugs. It is a major concern for all of our families. People need to understand that it is literally playing Russian-Roulette with your life if you use synthetic drugs like K2 or Spice,” said Donald R. Fountain, Plant Manager. Teresa Woolson noted “The overdose death rate is extremely alarming and continues to rise. Heroin is being cut with synthetics. Synthetic drugs are listed into 4 categories, as follows: Synthetic Cannabinoids (K2/Spice), Synthetic Cathinones (Extacy), Hallucinogens (LSD/Acid), and Synthetic Opioids (Fentanyl).” “Research chemicals are not regulated, therefore, these chemicals can legally be obtained and mixed with some liquid (acetone, etc.) and sprayed on plant material and packaged for sale. Proving exactly what chemical has been used is the tricky part because laboratories have been backlogged due to the epidemic and death rates and a new test/control must be established. Some of these chemicals have been identified and placed on the controlled substance list. For example, the chemical that my son died from was identified as XLR-11 and is now a controlled substance. This chemical was imported from China. The manufacturing process for this was highlighted in a documentary called ‘Merchant of Misery’ from Las Vegas and can be found on YouTube and/or the VOW Website. My story is part of this documentary, “ Teresa noted. Since forming the VOW Foundation, Teresa has also been heavily involved in the Oswego County Prevention Coalition and leads the County’s Substance Use Disorder and Recovery Team of the Oswego County Anti-Poverty Task Force. Teresa is a member of Zonta Club of Oswego and serves on the Board of Directors of the County of Oswego Council on Alcoholism and Addictions. She graduated from Leadership Oswego County in 2008. The VOW Foundation has worked with both New York State Assemblyman William Barclay and Congressman John Katko to help promote legislation that will help save lives from synthetic drugs. Teresa is scheduled to be a panel member on Congressman Katko’s Heroin and Synthetic Drug Forum scheduled at Oswego City Hall this Thursday. The 4th Annual SAFE Fair is scheduled for Sunday, April 30th from 12 Noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge located at 132 West 5th Street in Oswego. This is a free family event.
